WoW, like LOTRO's sister game DDO, is based on the work which Tolkien did when he created the world of Middle Earth. LOTRO is based on the Trillogy, not on the movies, and is quite true to the lore. Especially if you know anything about Tolkien's books. The important thing is - all of the classes are FUN! Enjoy the World of Middle Earth the world puts WoW to shame. Update 19 just went live on the test-server, Bullroarer, and there is little change in the various class capabilities. How much of that will change in the near future? Hard to say. LOTRO is far more condusive and designed for Solo play than WoW. Today, the top DPSers are the Sword and Board folks (Captain, Champion, Guardian) and the Rune-keeper.īut we are talking about group questing here - Instances and Raids - not solo play.
Neither class is particularly high on the DPS scale. The Beorning is often played as the "off-tank". The Lore-master is basically a supporting character - specializing in Crowd Control in raids and the like.
